Oh, Aldi: the pint-sized, quirky grocery chain famous for cart quarters and Clancy’s. It’s the store where you don’t know if you’ll leave with groceries, a pair of slippers, or a complete set of patio furniture (and yes, that happened to me).
I love saving money, and Aldi is a fantastic way to buy yummy, quality food for my family while staying under budget (that is, if I don’t get too caught up in their amazing, ever-changing seasonal section).
For this edition of Grocery Store Finds, I’m reviewing 5 things I found at Aldi this week.
Simply Nature Organic Coconut Oil
I’m sure you’ve all seen the memes about coconut oil. While it isn’t the cure to everything as some people claim, it is a great lotion, hair conditioner, and replacement for vegetable oil.
Aldi coconut oil is a less expensive version of the kind found at a trendy health food store, but it’s every bit as good. Why pay more?
Simply Nature Chickpea Penne
I’ve been trying a few pasta replacements lately and this chickpea penne was one of the best.
It packs 19 grams of protein per serving, but it tastes like regular pasta. I love how clean the ingredients list is: it’s 100% chickpeas!
Be careful not to overcook, though, or it will get mushy – five minutes is all it takes.
Clancy’s Ranch Veggie Straws
Good thing these are only 140 calories for like 35 of them, because I could probably eat the whole bag.
They are light, salty, and crispy. I would buy these again in a heartbeat!
Benton’s Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies
These mini bags of chocolate chip cookies are only 130 calories and 9 grams of sugar, making them a guilt-free treat when you really need something sweet.
Sundae Shoppe Peanut Butter Cup Light Ice Cream
This is the Aldi version of Halo Top high-protein ice cream. I didn’t care for the peanut butter flavor, but I would be willing to try some other flavors.
Well, there you have it: five things that caught my eye at Aldi this week. I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite Aldi memes.
And also – if you don’t believe me about finding quality outdoor furniture at a grocery store, here’s photographic evidence. Maddie certainly approves. Happy Friday!
