Battle of the Bars

Protein and energy bars are everywhere these days: gas stations, grocery stores, gym vending machines. Some have inspired pages of memes (looking at you, Nature Valley). Some taste like dessert, some are very simple, some are best for bodybuilding.

I’ve tried a bunch, and today I wanted to share 3 of my current favorites. This is by no means an exhaustive list, though. There are a ton of great brands out there, and many more I’m sure I haven’t even discovered yet.

Best All-Around

My favorite all-around protein bar is the Peanut Butter Perfect Bar by Perfect Snacks. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I love Perfect Bars for their great taste, clean ingredients, and freshness. They are a family-owned business based in California and the company’s passion for customer service and satisfaction consistently comes through in their products.

I love Perfect Bars because they are a filling, satisfying all-around protein bar. The 17 grams of protein keep me full, the honey adds just the right amount of sweetness, and the 20+ organic superfoods blend makes me feel good about what I’m eating. I’m thankful that my local Aldi carries these bars (check your grocery store’s refrigerated section), and they’re also available right from the Perfect Snacks website. Shipping is free, and there are plenty of flavors to try.

Best Dessert Substitute

If you’re looking for a fun protein bar with low sugar and tons of dessert-like flavors, look no further than ONE Brands. Between the birthday cake, butter pecan, cinnamon roll, and the new fruity cereal flavor, you can curb your dessert cravings with around 1 gram of sugar and 20 grams of protein per serving.

Best for Energy

I love how LÄRABAR bars are made with only a few simple ingredients such as dates, nuts, and sea salt. They aren’t very high in protein (around 6 grams per serving) but they have enough carbs (about 20 grams) to power a strenuous workout or hike. They’re a great choice to stash in your gym bag as a pre-workout treat.

I personally love protein and energy bars and I enjoy trying all the new flavors and varieties. What are your favorite bars right now? Let me know!
